This is Post Number 208

And this will be the last blogpost on hyperspangled. I do feel a little nostalgic and sad. Funny how I get attached to all sorts of things.

Dear Hyperspangled,

Thank you for being the best listener one could ask for. Thank you, for being an outlet for my frustrations, elation, growth, and bottled up teenage angst over the past two years. I never really doubted the truth of "one's teenage years are the essential formative period of one's life". Except, I never realised I was being shaped, moulded, crafted into becoming the person I am now. The process was so gradual and, dare I say, arduous, that I never realised I was being actively shaped into a Young Adult. Everything I've blogged here has traced my transition, if any, over the past two years, and someday in the future I will return to this place in search of a brief transitory return to my upper sec days. While I may have forsaken you for LJ which has a few irresistably desirable features, herein lies most of my memories, thoughts and feelings of my sec3&4 days, much of which isn't very pleasant. But there are those experiences I would never exchange anything for. Take, for example, OBS, Dwen An and How Miranda Survived The EYAs. Therefore, take pride in the fact that you hold many of my cherished moments, and take comfort in the knowledge that I will return time and again to relive these experiences.

Yours in love and faith,
Miranda

Let us take a moment for the truth of the above statement to sink in. Ahh, the relief, the joy, the sense of liberation.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Miranda would like to express her deepest gratitude to a few important figures who have been by her side throughout this trying and torturous phase of her life, affectionately known as the EOYs or EYAs by the very students who suffer from its effects, both immediate and protracted. Miranda has been able to survive the past three weeks of muggerification solely due to the sustained support and concern of these people.
Firstly, she would like to thank her valued study buddy, TAN HUI YI for being such a cooperative, encouraging and productive study buddy. She would also like to thank huiyi's family for being so accomodating, and feeding her + giving her lifts during intensive mugging sessions at huiyi's abode.
Secondly, she would like to thank her lovely classmates / fellow sufferers, for being in the same sinking boat as her throughout all the assessments. Exams would never be the same without you, dear classmates, for both your physical presence and emotional encouragement have given her the strength to carry on. Thank you, Nan and Nat Kim, for the brief mugging session that made mugging fun. Thank you, Marge and Nat Goh, for being familiar sources of human presence throughout the duration of the paper.
Thirdly, she would like to thank her teachers, in particular the dedicated ones like misskamsir who took the time to reply her long-winded query-filled email ON THE SAME NIGHT with LONG LONG answers. Teachers extend to the TUITION TEACHERS, all of whom, she is inclined to think, deserve to be shown even more gratitude, really.
Last but not least, she would like to thank a group of people who love her so much no matter what, and who she knows she cannot live without. Her family has been a constant source of motivation, love and courage, especially under such trying circumstances. With Daddy's constant "girl ah, so stressed, want CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM?", Mummy's concerned "you need me to buy some guidebooks/assesment books/ model essay books / Brand's essence?" and her lovely little sister Melnana's "GOODNIGHT JIEJIE GOOD LUCK *hugs*". Yes, she does love her family a lot.

And. I'm free. Really free.

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

It feels like I'm going to school tomorrow morning to jump off the top floor, meeting a grisly end with lots of chemical equations, alkenes and alkanes eating my flesh up ravenously.

Let's hope I actually get a 2-digit number.

Blogger is finally functioning on my computer.

Well. MATH IS OVER.
*celebrates*

Only Chem left. No motivation to study for Chem, but I know it's terrible behavior. So. I'll try.

ONE DAY TO LIBERATION!

Saturday, September 12, 2009 Y 10:22 PM

This exemplifies that in order for women to achieve liberation, one has to take risks and make sacrifices. Calixta also shows us the change in a woman who has attained freedom from societal restrictions, and thus allows us to understand that a liberated person is happier, more sure of herself, and is a generally better person.

This brings out the idea that liberation achieved through any form, socially unacceptable methods included, has a positive impact on the self and the people around.

Six days from my liberation.
I can now fully identify with Calixta's need to break out of society's expectations of her as a good student mother and wife preparing for an important exam. You know, maybe it isn't that bad.
MissKamsir says that "Showing a personal engagement with the stories is a good basis for writing about literature".

Personal engagement indeed. You have no idea.
