i hate being sick.
and i hate cough medicine. its the only non-tablet form one. other than that i have 3 other tablets to take for phlegm, throat inflammation and nose.
other than that not going to school has been a pretty decent break. but i didn't exactly sleep well last night. had a bad dream :o

I am pleased to announce that I have progressed from I-hate-life mode to life-sucks-but-so-what-i-knew-that-and-i've-got-no-choice-anyway mode. (yes it's a tad long)
anyway.

I'm in high spirits cos guess what. WE HAVE NO HOMEWORK DUE TOMORROW. its amazing. i know. I've been reading a few books this weekend. It really feels great to get engrossed in a book. I haven't had the time or energy to do so lately. Perhaps discovering good books contributed to my lifting of spirits. I have read 3 books in 3 days so far. yay me.

One good one is Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac. Its about a girl who suffers partial memory loss after she falls down a flight of stairs. It actually made me really disoriented. The girl's confused and all and seems stuck in some time warp and that feeling actually managed to affect me. She actually forgot everything since she was twelve. (She's eighteen by the way). These forgotten stuff include things like her parent's divorce, her best friend, her boyfriend, French, everything and everyone in her school etc. pretty bad. Well its really interesting and rather amusing and touching. And its a love story but not the sappy cliched chick flick/romance kind.

I think what's important about a book is the ending and the impression it leaves. I love those endings which are kind of undefined. With the feeling of continuation. It makes the characters seem more real and less happy-ever-after fairytale cut-outs. Of course, abrupt endings with loose ends are a total spoiler. Leaving too much to the reader's imagination is never too good, especially when it seems like you're just trying to end the story quickly. I used to like happy-ever-after chick lit endings but they all seem like cookie cut-outs after you read more chick lit. It gets annoyingly predictable and doesn't give you the happy feeling anymore. And then you have those tragedies. The ones that include people dying and breaking up and might result in me crying. I can't say I'm a big fan (same goes for shows like sappy Korean dramas) but really well-written ones can be very poignant. I think its could well be the perfect mix if you balance up the tragedy with a little happy ending. Eg. The Pact by Jodi Picoult

Discussed Chinese PT with Marge today. Was quite fun, I must say.

Went to the national library’s study lounge after tuition. I started telling Marge how cool the lift is, so we started exploring how the scenery looks like from different heights (the lift was partially made of glass). Then we realized we went there for a legitimate purpose (which is not taking pictures in the lift). Anyway, was relatively productive with the exception of relatively minor distractions (note sarcasm). In our rather long stay in the lounge, we noticed that the only sounds that we could hear were from girls, which included us (eg. hehe, haha x 100, kirkkirkkirk x 100, hurhur etc.) oh yeah, did I mention how amazing our Chinese is? In fact, we were so good that we had to check Marge’s dictionary 99.999% of the time (which is how often Fe2+ becomes Fe3+ through Redox. Looks like we benefited from Chem tuition after all), for words like edit, compose, powerpoint, speech, script etc.

Wednesday with lit sa and english speech was surprisingly not that bad though. Okay currently i need to do my countless undone PTs, complete chinese thingo which is overdue (hello she SAID she wouldnt mark so hand up for what right), PRACTISE MATH, do ss fa. which im so not doing. where is the logic, tell me. i thought we didnt need to do it, and he didnt even say we have to and now we get an sms saying its due tomorrow. sorry, im not gonna do it now.
English pretty much ruined my whole day today. I can't write. at least not expository. And English is supposed to be my saving grace. dammit.
Today seemed like a really looooong day. it was like, 10.30am and it felt like 4pm.
I'm really fed up with my life right now. I'm so tired.
i'm so sick of trying to make sense of everything. its like a mad race actually. or maybe i'm just really hopelessly lazy.
cant wait for this phase (at least i hope it is a phase) to pass. seniors say sec 4 is a lot better.

Anyway. I love this show. Tae Wang Sa Shin Ki/ The Legend. And its been over a month so I can safely say that its not a passing fancy. I never used to like korean gu zhuang xi but this is really nice. and the Damdeok Sujini love is so (: AND i'll make it clear that i'm NOT a baeyongjun fan. in fact i used to hate him with a passion. but he really looks a lot better now minus specs and with long hair. haha.

We spent a lot of time lying on the beach, getting tanned (burnt really), attempting to play frisbee and play with a beach ball (which we eventually left there!) and talking. This is a summary of the kinds of tans we got.

Tribune camp yesterday went pretty badly ): summary of the bad stuff.
in all Selene and I were like jinxed yesterday. UNLUCKY.
1) we got a shock upon reaching school cos THE CLC was found to be UNBOOKED and we took ages verifying that we booked it, and camp started out 45 mins late in the end.
2) all comp labs were booked thus the photoshop workshop that Rokhini and Karen painstakingly planned till like 2am was CANCELLED. we're very VERY sore about this.
3) everyone was already in a bad mood, plus unresponsive during writing workshop, got scolded = in an even worse mood.
4) in the middle of Amazing race, it started POURING. I swear I never hated rain that much.
6) the fourth light in the CLC was spoilt or something, couldnt be turned off for the initial part of the movie marathon (pfft, what marathon. only one movie in the end)
7) going home. S & I decided to take number 5. yknow the board that tells you when the bus comes? yes it read 57 minutes! we didnt believe it, waited for 25 minutes, checked the board again, 59 minutes!!! GAH. decided to cross over and take 518. timing on schedule read that it should come in 9 minutes. waited. and waited. 11 minutes passed. no bus. smsed iris. COMING IN 9 MINS. GAH. then we had a hard time deciding whether to take mrt or wait for the bus. this was what happened.
me: *flips selene's coin* OHSHIT. (coin rolls off and disappears onto the road)

we had NDP rehearsal. it was, well. lots of marching around in the sun. and amanda's neck had this white thing that looked like fungus. haha mouldy neck. but it was probably just sodium chloride. then, went to have lunch with huiyi jas tiffy and zann. we ate at this ramen place that was pretty good. tiffy jas & huiyi decided to eat some ice-cream sundae thing at gelare. huiyi was. gosh, huiyi. what can I say?
1) Gelare has this order form thing where you have to fill in your orders. huiyi was helpfully filling it in.

2) we had some confusion over this song that was playing over the counter. huiyi INSISTED that its chinese although tiff jas and zann thought it was malay. I thought it sounded korean. it DID okay. i still think it sounded very koren. but i DIDN'T SING wo yao zhan qi lai like huiyi did. gosh.
3) an ice-cream dripping session. i swear nobody can beat huiyi when it comes to messy eating.

then eenette came over to far east and we went to shop (leaving tiff & jas behind oops sorry dears). but anyway at least huiyi's shopping was fruitful. mine was. sigh. BUT. I'm still looking forward to tomorrow WHEEEEEEEEE. I'm so excited I probably won't be able to sleep tonight. I MISS FRIQUE.

I'm damn stressed right now. what is the school thinking dumping us with 7 PTs. argh. okay its probably my fault for procrastinating and such but STILL. its maddening. even my seniors pity our batch of sec 3s. Anyway I almost had a mental breakdown in tribune today thinking about my unfinished ss pt and barely started on bio pt which are due tomorrow and the day after respectively. Its probably not helping that im wasting time blogging now but i need some release. argh. anyway i'm really glad that i have great seniors like rokhini and pamo. i'm really grateful to them for being there with a listening ear and sound, sensible advice. It really helps. and pam if you see this, yes the world IS starting to look slightly better. slightly. I cant believe theyre leaving so soon. ):

I'm currently stuck on my chinese qing jing wen which has to be about maligning someone and feeling guilty. I've decided on something along the lines of accusing a maid of stealing money and getting her sent back to where she came from. Very guilt-inducing.

Anyway, I went to dance concert yesterday and it was really worth every cent. I'm so proud of Nadia Cheah & Eenette Wong (: You could tell the dancers really put in a lot of effort and practice. They make me wish i could dance half as well. I FINALLY SAW NANDITA DANCING :D. Of course, such a rare video opportunity is not to be missed. i even specially zoomed in on her. It was pretty crazy after the concert cos everyone was waiting in the foyer for the dancers to come out. And when they did, it was seriously like they were movie stars or something. haha. you should've seen the number of flowers Nadia was flooded with.
