One word to describe root canal treatment -- OUCH
During the whole process it didnt hurt. more like ached. but maybe it was cos i was under anaesthaesia. I tell you my mouth was like numb for hours. Anyway Dr Chong gave me a jab (which did not hurt) and isolated my tooth. there was this rubber piece for me to bite onto and keep my mouth open, and this green sheet to cover the rest of the mouth. Okay hard to describe. First, she started drilling a hole in my tooth and it was rather worrying cos the sound that came out was vaguely similar to what you hear when drilling walls. Then she started cleaning it and disinfecting it with what she said was diluted bleach. "very good for killing bacteria!". mmhm. then i decided best was to close my eyes cos even though i couldn't feel or see anything going on in my mouth, i could see her holding up piece after piece of long sharp metal picks which she used to dig around in my tooth or something. Yes, very disturbing image. She had to measure the length of my tooth and ALL HER STICKS AND INSTRUMENTS WERE TOO SHORT. she told her nurse "hmm, pass me the long [name of instrument i cannot remember], the 20 cm one." RIGHT. turns out my tooth measured a whopping 2.4 cm. yes i have long teeth. then she went about doing what seemed like digging around inside my long tooth and disinfecting it with dilutd bleach. she noticed me staring at the sharp instruments warily and offerd me a mirror to see what's going on. i didnt exactly want to KNOW. but i politely held it up and took a peek. not very clear but not as gross as expected. anyway after the whole procedure i was thinking, hey that wasn't so bad! didn't hurt. THEN. i rinsed my mouth and after a while the anaesthaesia wore off. IT HURT SO BAD. its like LASTING and SHARP pain. never experienced this kind of pain before okay. i was like suddenly tearing and tearing non-stop. then the Dr. Chong was all :' oh, you poor thing it'll be over soon okay?' she gave ma another jab of anaesthetic which helped i guess, and 2 painkillers. I made my mum cab home cos i wasn't having a whole mrt carriage of people staring at me and wondering: that girl is so weird, mouth cannot close, tearing non-stop. but seriously it hurt a lot more than i expected. i went home in a foul mood, bathed and went straight to bed. thank goodness upon waking up, both the numbness and pain were gone. thank goodness for painkillers. Well i'm going back next wednesday for root canal treatment part II and let's just hope it doesnt hurt that much. filling the tooth shouldn't be painful. RIGHT?

and in the meanwhile i shall be entertained by the davids.
