The bravest thing you can do when you are not brave is to profess courage and act accordingly.
- Corra Harris

This post is dedicated to a brave little boy who has emerged safe and stronger from the operating theatre despite being so afraid and so defenceless before going in alone. Like any other 7 year old child, he was terrified. Unlike most, he didn't let it show.
I'm not scared.
- Reynard Chia
And this is one line worth quoting because he uttered it just about a second before being wheeled into the operating theatre by a group of intimidating white-cloaked strangers with masks on their faces.
He has undergone more surgery in his 7 years of life than many of us will in our entire lifetimes. He has known more physical pain than many of us might in our entire lifetimes.
But that has also made him stronger.
It hasn't taken away any of the innocence and curiosity that makes up a childhood.
He wants to own the entire set of Transformers figurines. I've just bought him a decepticon.
He wants to be brave like Superman and Batman.
He wants to make his own kite and design it all by himself.
He wants to top the class and make us all proud.
He wants to eat any, and every type of meat that's known to be edible on this earth. Snails and snakes included.
He wants to rollerblade, cycle and swim. In fact, he already can do all three.
He wants to play naughty tricks on all of us and laugh his little head off.
He wants his eyes to look bigger in photos because he thinks his eyes are too small.
Someday, he wants to grow to become big, strong and capable so that he can look after his mummy, daddy and his sister.
And he will, because this little boy is braver than most of us are.
